An Updated Skincare Routine and Acne Story

http://graciediet.com/ask/hello-guys-im-traning-bjj-from-7-to-9am-and-i-got-2-questions-for-you-1-what-can-i-eat-before-my-7am-training-like-a-pre-workout-food-and-2-if-i-eat-let´s-say-at-6-am-before-my-training/ I always love talking and writing about skincare. Possibly because it’s been such a long journey for me with my skin and I think that’s why I get excited when I find new products that actually do what they promise.

http://comforteforpms.com/?dies3=investing-group-bnary-option When I was 14 I first started to get acne, and ever since then, I’ve been through just about every skincare product and hack to try to clear my skin. When I was 19 I went on roaccutane (comment if you would like a more detailed post about my experience of that) but I have never quite managed to completely stay spot free. I get breakouts, particularly when I’m tired, stressed or travelling. I’ve also found myself throwing away my oily skin products and desperately searching for things that can deal with my ever-changing combination skin which it seems to have turned into.

binaire opties fok forum Last month I had an incredible FaceTime session with someone who has really had a huge impact on my skin and the way I’m approaching things. I got to meet Louise Thomas-Minns who, spurred on by her own acne journey, founded Skin Lounge which approaches skincare with a scientific, nutritional and holistic philosophy. I was excited to chat to her because she’s very honest and knowledgable and I’m often disappointed with some products in the UK that just don’t seem to be able to do what I need.

http://gsc-research.de/blog/blog-from/2013-02-01/ She’s an ambassador for Panasonic Beauty, so alongside the nutritional information, I was given the most amazing Panasonic skinalysis and a recommended routine using their premium beauty devices. Louise has so much knowledge about skincare, and her passion about finding products that actually work made me excited to try this new routine. Until then, I didn’t actually know that Panasonic did skincare but it’s a brand I have used for years and really trust so I was intrigued to see what all the hype was about. So, my skincare concerns were along the lines of keeping break outs at bay, but also helping me with dehydrated patches and also I am really trying to get my skin a little plumper as I’m approaching 30. I don’t know what’s happened but it just seems to have lost it’s bounce!

The first thing she recommended was the new Panasonic Facial Steamer EH-XS01. Now I used to steam when I was a teenager so I already knew I was going to love this, but last time I used one it was fiddly and hard to store. I didn’t think it was possible to make skincare tools beautiful, but Panasonic has done what they do best and created a line that is pretty incredible. So this steamer uses nano sized particles, much smaller that regular steam particles. It basically means it’s far less messy to use but more importantly it gets much deeper into your skin. If you’ve ever steamed before you’ll know how relaxing it is, and it’s a great thing to help prevent breakouts and really give your skin a good glow and boost. There’s a 3 minute option too which is genius because the one I had years ago literally felt like it took all night! All the Panasonic Beauty products are shaped around you and what suits your lifestyle so even if you have a really busy day it doesn’t’ have to mean you can’t look after your skin. I keep it on my dressing table because it’s actually really pretty with the white and rose gold.

bdswiss trade The next most important thing for me was my diet. So Louise introduced magnesium as a supplement to help with my adrenal glands and stress. What was most interesting was the part about hydration because there’s a big misconception that only water hydrates you. She actually recommended things like walnuts, pumpkin seeds and oily fish which I love. And thankfully I was allowed to keep drinking all the tea I love, which all counts towards my 2 litres a day!

Lastly, Louise recommended a few more bits that I could pop into my everyday routine. The Panasonic 3-in-1 Micro-Current Facial Enhancer has actually become my favourite new beauty tool. I’ve never tried anything like it and you know I love a multi-use product! It works around a really clever titanium head which warms up. Honestly, it’s like being in some sort of spa I’ve got a little bit addicted to doing this every morning. So you put a little bit of toner onto cotton wool and attach it to the device, and by doing this it gets up to 60% more dirt from your pores. I’m almost out of my Sanoflore toner, this is the first product I’ve used from them and I’m hooked. It’s the only toner I’ve used that feels like it’s really cleaning my skin as well as toning. Then you can moisturise with this. So after applying your serum or product you gently move this over your face and the micro-current stimulates the ingredients and moisturises deeper into the skin. I’ve been using my AragoSpa face cream which is from Korea. It’s incredibly cheap (around £25) and rivals my favourite Elemis one but is so hard to get hold of because it always sells out! Then I use my favourite Origins Gin Zing eye cream which is really good for brightening, it’s like a really subtle concealer. You can use the enhancer for this too. Then there’s a cooling mode which is really good to tighten and firm.

PANASONIC7

Louise also recommended skincare with hyaluronic acid in so I’m on the hunt for that. The main thing was that I wanted something that would fit into my daily routine, which isn’t always long particularly in the morning. The Panasonic Beauty products are so easy to use and to fit seamlessly into my routine, with the option to have a longer pamper session if you have the extra time. The difference already in my skin is really quite noticeable – I haven’t had one single breakout and I’ve been having lots of late nights and enjoying a few gin and tonics! Panasonic also do a Micro-Foaming Facial Cleansing brush which I’ve used a few times and love. It comes with two different brushes, one which is good for problem areas. It’s a cleansing brush as we know and love but Panasonic made sure it was much better. There’s a makeup removal plate which heats up gently so it’s easier to take off stubborn eye makeup……we don’t have how lucky we are, 15 years ago I wish I had access to things like this, it’s genius!

I always say to people, there’s no point in having nice makeup if you don’t look after your skin. Investing in skincare like this invaluable, and if you’ve been on a journey like me then it’s even more important to spend your money where it matters. I’d really recommend checking out Louise’s site too which I’ll link here, and having your own skinalysis so she can help with your own journey. It’s been the lift I needed just before we go into the colder months!

My Ultimate Autumn Treats!

Living each day to the max is important, but taking the time to relax is even more so. Sometimes I get to 9pm and wonder where the day has gone, I collapse in bed and forget about taking any time for me. As the nights are getting darker and the days are getting colder it’s made me think about all the things I can do to feel as cosy and relaxed as I can. So I wanted to write a bit of a TLC guide to tell you about all the things I love to do to feel pampered and ready for the Autumn!

palm5

I get quite anxious and stressed and i’m always looking for things that force me to slow down and relax. So a few weeks ago I set myself the challenge of learning how to knit! I love snuggly hats in the cold so I knitted this one and have been wearing it almost every day. It was so therapeutic learning how to do this and it feels so good to know I made it!

palm12 palm3

Morning and evening pampering is a TLC must for me, and you don’t have to have hours to do this. I’m all about the indulgence and sweet treats so I was really excited to try Palmolive’s new Gourmet Body Butter Shower Cream as a new addition to my Autumn pamper routine. My favourite is the chocolate one – think hot chocolate and marshmallows and everything a chocoholic would love! It’s made with cocoa extract so you can imagine the smell. I’ve really tried hard this year to find products that embrace and make the most of all the amazing natural ingredients we have around us, and this range does exactly that. It’s incredibly rich and moisturising which my skin really needs at this time of the year. It makes my pampering sessions even more luxurious and relaxing!

palm2

They also have Strawberry Touch and Vanilla Pleasure which would be good if you prefer something a little more fruity! I took these away with me on a weekend away and the whole bathroom smelt like a spa. They feel so soft and luxurious on your skin, and let’s face it our skin needs all the help it can get as it starts to get colder! You can get the range from Superdrug here.

Food and drink is a big part of my life and I take a little more time as it gets colder to make a few treats. In the morning I love this gluten free porridge with honey and nuts or my homemade granola which you can watch how to make in my ‘What I Eat In A Day’ video. My absolute favourite thing when I’m having a ‘me moment’ is hot chocolate in front of the fire. When I really want to pamper myself I go all out and add cream, marshmallows and a flake. It’s so comforting at this time of the year. I got this recipe from DrinksTube where I make tea videos which is a really good go-to for Autumn drinks!

palm7

Finally, I get so much of the feel-good factor from shopping and I love this time of year for that! I did a snuggly clothing haul recently and picked up a few scarfs, gloves, hats and boots. This has to be one of my favourite times of the year for spoiling myself shopping and I love the colours for Autumn as well as all the gorgeous knits and fabrics.

So in between all the hustle and bustle, try to take a little bit of time out to relax. It makes such a difference to my mood and it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. What are your favourite things to do to relax and pamper yourself at this time of the year? Becky x

A Day In The Life of a YouTuber

It appears miracles can happen. Never ever did I think I would be able to leave the house and go a full day not only without topping up my powder, but without even putting much of it on in the first place. I have always suffered with shine, and as the day goes on my makeup slides off and it just seems to get worse. Garnier set me the challenge of putting their new Pure Active Matte Control to the test. It’s an anti-shine anti-blemish moisturiser that claims to be able to control shine for 8 hours non-stop. Being the cynic I am, I didn’t think that one product alone could do this. So I mixed things up a little, and filmed an entire day in my life showing every step of the day and my skin and makeup. I mean, if the shine was going to show, I wanted you there to be able to judge it for yourselves! I was a bit on the tough side too, I actually put it through its paces for about 10 hours.

garnier1

Here’s the product that’s about to shake things up in the moisturiser game. It’s all about shine control for combination to oily skin. First of all I love the texture, it’s a gel consistency but not as thick and waxy as some of my favourite primers like Benefits Porefessional or Becca which I know divide you when it comes to how they feel. Instead it feels like satin because it’s actually a gel. I literally couldn’t stop putting this on it made my skin feel so good and definitely looked a lot smoother. It smells nice, quite subtle, similar to other Garnier products if you’re familiar with those. That wasn’t the test for me though, as soft as it might be, I needed it to hold my makeup and stop any single bit of shine developing.

garnier2

I got ready with this as part of my morning routine, went to brunch in this, took the dogs for a walk in this, filmed under my lights with this and relaxed by the fire in the evening with this. 10 hours later and not one bit of grease or shine. I felt defeated, and I loved it. So much so that I raved about it in my monthly favourites and daily skincare and makeup routine. It contains mattifying Airlicium and Salicylic Acid which is the little miracle combination that explains the shine control.

One other thing for me that stood out was how hydrated my skin felt at the end of the day. Usually when I’m packing primer and powder on my face by the end of the day I have dry patches, hence why I seem to have such combination skin at the moment. This didn’t do that, so it’s a moisturiser and primer in one. And if you have combination or oily skin like I do, I would pretty much expect this will become your go-to product like it has mine! It’s £6.99 so being a 2 in 1 product, you are getting so much for your money. Sometimes when I find something for shine control it’s high end and expensive can make it more of a treat rather than a daily product. That’s why I really wanted to tell you about this in hope that it helps some of you who have the shine problem like I do!

Now my fear of leaving powder at home has changed into my fear of leaving this! But judge it for yourself – the camera can’t lie! Here’s a day in my life….product aside it’s a chance to be a little nosey and watch me filming behind the scenes and what I get up to in a typical day! Love Becky x

New Spring Skincare Routine

caudalie1

This weeks post is all about Spring skincare as I’ve been counting down the days for this warmer weather to finally arrive! One of the first things I do apart from changing my makeup, is to switch things up skincare wise. My skin is combination so I’m constantly battling with skin that can’t make its mind up, and I wanted to talk a little more about some of the products that have really helped.

For the past year Caudalie skincare has stolen my heart and I just can’t get enough of their products. I wrote a post last year all about why I love the range, and now there is a new launch that I wanted to talk about. The beauty elixir and vinosource range have been staples in my bathroom that I can’t live without, but I’m switching things up a little and trying out a gorgeous new selection of their products.

caudalie2

The Polyphenol C15 range is designed to protect the skin from free radicals that we face everyday and to treat and help prevent wrinkles. My life is constantly on the move, I’m travelling to London each week, driving everywhere and spend a lot of time in the city. I protect my skin against the sun but to be honest I’ve never done anything to protect against the city air and the environment! First of all I want to talk about the overnight detox oil which I was already using last year as part of my skincare routine. For me this is the hero product of the range, I apply it before I go to bed and leave it to work its magic. It has honestly made such a difference, my skin is so much softer but it doesn’t leave me with greasy skin as it’s a dry oil – I notice such a difference when I don’t use this. All the products have anti-oxidant grape seed in and this one has carrot oil and lavender which make it smell amazing.

caudalie3

Next up are the moisturisers. The Broad Spectrum SPF20 Anti-Wrinkle Protect Fluid and the New Broad Spectrum SPF20 Anti-Wrinkle Protect Cream. I use the the fluid as my day moisturiser and it’s replaced my much-loved Elemis pro-collagen cream doing exactly the same thing. It’s packed with vitamin C and makes my skin feel and look a lot plumper which I like, basically I look less tired!! The new cream is lovely too, same smell as the rest of the range but this is slightly richer. On days when my skin is dry in places or sometimes overnight as a mask I use this.

Finally to finish the collection is the Anti-Wrinkle Defence serum and Anti-Wrinkle Eye and Lip cream. When I have more time in the morning I love using the serum especially if I’m having a bad skin day. It really helps smooth things over a little. My mum is a big fan of the eye and lip cream as it really makes a difference for her with tightening the skin. I don’t need that yet but I’m sure i’m not far off!

I’m actually doing a really fun giveaway for you all to celebrate the Spring arriving! 10 anti-oxidant boxes are up for grabs packed full of deluxe samples of all the range for you to try. All you need to do it go on twitter and follow @caudalieUK and @talkbeckytalk and tweet us using #WinSkincare. Do the same on Instagram following @caudalie and @talkbeckytalk and leave a comment using #WinSkincare under one of their pictures.

caudalie1

Also, you can make your own fun film over on the Caudalie website here which I did too. It’s basically a story of your life, and when you create one you’re entered to win a box too!

My entire collection of Spring skincare products will be over on my channel tomorrow here. So make sure you don’t miss that either. I know skincare can be a big investment so it’s really important to try it and get it right! Caudalie is a brand I have come to trust and love, and I’m pretty tough on skincare products because I have such difficult skin and this one has fast become one of my favourites! What’s your staple skincare product? Have you tried any of the Caudalie range? Becky x

Aurelia Skincare: Review

Make way for a new skincare favourite, how have I only just found out about this range? I was in Liberty in London a few weeks ago having afternoon tea and bumped into a lovely girl who watches my YouTube channel. I love it when I can have a good chat about all things makeup and she recommended a brand that they sell in store there called Aurelia. I’ve got to be honest I’d never heard of it before, but that’s what made it even more exciting, I love finding new things that I’ve never tried.

I’m pretty fussy when it comes to skincare. I have combination skin after having pained years of having acne so I know what I like, what I don’t, and I tend to stick to it! The packaging of this range started to win me over as soon as I saw it. It’s what I call ‘tidy packaging’ – clean and fuss free but looks like it’s a high quality product.

aurelia1

My hero product of the range has to be the Miracle Cleanser. It’s picked up quite a few beauty awards and I can see why. The first thing that hits you is the smell. I am obsessed with Eucalyptus so to have it in a cleanser is just divine. It’s a really strong aromatic smell which I have to say I’m a big fan of. It’s also packed with Chamomile, Rosemary and Bergamot, basically smell senses heaven! You rub the cream cleanser onto dry skin and then it comes with a muslin cloth that you soak in warm water before melting all your makeup off. If you’re a fan of the Soap and Glory hot cloth cleanser then you will LOVE this but it comes with the higher price tag of £34. Well worth it in my opinion. My skin felt so soft and hydrated after using it and my skin has really cleared up too. Plus you can buy extra muslin cloths so you have a fresh one for each day of the week.

aurelia3

Next up is the Refine and Polish Miracle Balm. This one has really divided me so i’l start with the positives. It smells the same as the cleanser and has pretty much the same plant ingredients so the aroma is gorgeous. It’s a beautiful scrub which turns into a mask if left on as it’s filled with peptides and oils, and then you just rinse it off with water. When I first put it on I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it, it’s a waxy/balm texture and usually that freaks me out as I’m so scared of breaking out, but as I’ve learnt over the years, oil actually balances out oil so I have to force myself past that initial reaction! It’s really soft in terms of a scrub which I love and felt so nice when it was on, almost a warming feeling. All the horrible dry skin I get had gone after using it, and it’s become my staple scrub/mask in my bathroom. When I left it on as a mask, I genuinely think my skin has never really felt this soft. The downside is the price. At £57 this is definitely going to have to be more of a treat scrub for me, it’s definitely one of my new favourite scrubs but the price tag means I will be savouring this to last the year!

aurelia4

Last but not least, the day and night moisturisers. Both of them have a whipped texture, I usually prefer moisturisers a little silkier but these felt nice and soft and not too heavy. The day one smells of Jasmine and Tubersose and the night of Lavender and Rose, only slightly though so if you’re not overly fussed on scent then you’d be fine with these. They don’t knock my all time favourite moisturisers (Elemis marine cream)  off the top spot, but they do come pretty close.

Aurelia skincare available at Liberty in London or online here.

GLAMGLOW Face Mask – Worth The Hype?

The cult-fave GLAMGLOW youthmud face mask is something that’s been on my list to try and review for longer than I can remember. It’s probably the most talked about mask and I really wanted to know if it was worth the hype. The £25 price tag for a fairly small jar (15ml) has always stopped me from buying it on a whim, but I finally caved!

glamglow1

It claims to be a 10-minute facial in a jar, which is a tag line that had me hooked because I’m looking for a quick fix in face masks. On top of that, it’s supposed to help clear up problem skin which is something that’s been an issue for me lately. Lots of you know that I suffered with bad acne for years, I actually had to go on roaccutane to clear it up but I still get the odd breakout when I’m tired or stressed.

glamglow2

First of all the packaging is gorgeous. I’m a sucker for packaging and this one ticks all the right boxes, the pot itself looks so cute in my bathroom. The mask is pretty easy to apply. When it dries it tightens and a few of the bits tend to flake off. It’s packed full of things like clay, minerals, green tea, cucumber and lavender – pretty much everything I turn to when I’m having a bad skin day! Plus it’s paraben-free with no artificial colours or fragrances which I really try to look for now.

glamglow3

So is it worth the hype? Well, I have to admit, yes it is. My skin cleared up after using this twice so on the spot front, it did the trick. It definitely reduced redness for me too, it’s supposed to brighten skin as well and my skin did look less tired. Just having a look now I’ve actually found it on sale, a larger pot (50ml) for £35 on Zest Beauty. I’ve wasted so much money on face masks that don’t work, so if you want one that gets to the point, I think I’ve just found it. What’s your favourite mask? Becky x

January Beauty Favourites

You know it, it’s my favourite time of the month, Jan beauty faves time! There are so many things I’ve been lining up to try as we went into 2015, and so many of my old favourites that I’ve fallen back in love with.

One of the main things I wanted to tell you guys about this January, if you hadn’t already seen some of them, I’m doing tea videos over on the DrinksTube YouTube channel! It’s literally a dream come true to be able to film tea all day long, and I’ve been making lots of recipes too for you to try. So make sure you head on over to the channel and subscribe here right now! If you don’t like tea, there are so many other drinks recipes, I hope you like it :)

Talking of tea, go grab a cuppa. I hope you enojy this favourites video, I’ve been trying out some new releases and OMG some makeup from Primark which has become my makeup staple and is so cheap!! Happy watching! Becky x

My Winter Evening Routine

This was by far one of my favourite videos to put together for you. I am feeling so Christmassy and have been spending most evenings wrapping presents, drinking mulled wine and visiting friends! So I wanted to put together a winter evening routine video showing you how to touch your makeup up if you’re popping out for the evening, but don’t want to spend ages getting ready. After all Christmas time is about relaxing right?

winter eve

A few things that I’m really excited to tell you about….first of all a new Soap and Glory blush that doubles up as a highlighter too. It’s multi-shade so really is perfect for defining and giving a little sparkle. Also, make sure you watch right until the end as I’ve got a cute little gift guide if you’re last minute buying for men for Christmas. There’s a pair of cufflinks that I think you’ll fall in love with, in fact there’s a load of jewellery on that site that you might just want to keep for yourself! Happy shopping, Becky x

Simple New Skincare

I’ve long been a fan of Simple facewipes. There isn’t a day when I either don’t have them in my bathroom cupboard as a skincare essential or am grabbing them as I rush through an airport on holiday!

wipes

So I was really excited to learn that they are releasing a limited edition version of their best-seller Kind To Skin cleansing facial wipes as part of their #KindToCitySkin campaign. I’m a total sucker for anything that looks pretty and girlie so I absolutely adore the design. They’ve teamed up with illustrator Kate Forrester who’s designed a picture of a rather glam city girl walking in Autumn leaves. I like to think this is how I look when I’m in the city but really I’m usually wrapped up and hair all over the place!

walk

Being around pollution has a huge effect on your skin, the days I spend working in London or when I’m out and about in Nottingham, I get home and my face feels so much more tired and grubby. So one of my handbag essentials, along with hand sanitizer and powder, is usually always face wipes!

table

The last few days I’ve been popping these in my bag to try out whilst i’m on the go, and I have to say they don’t disappoint. I’ve always been a fan of the smell and feel of these wipes. They smell so subtle, almost of nothing, which is great if you don’t want to irritate your skin because there’s no artificial perfume or colour or any of the other things they usually add! These are probably some of the softest wipes I own, which is why I’ve always bought them, particularly if I’m on the go and my skin is already quite sensitive to everything around me. They’re packed with Vitamin E and Pro Vitamin B5 which helps make them feel so damn good!

wipes2

They also claim to remove waterproof mascara with a new formula, so of course I had to put this to the test! The little beauties didn’t let me down, here’s a before and after pic, all gone!

eyes1

eyes2

I’m savouring these as they are limited edition! You can buy them from Boots from the 29th October and will be available until the end of the year for £3.49. This is probably one of the most understated beauty essentials I own.

Simple Skincare: Skin Social

All throughout my teenage years and into my early twenties I suffered from bad acne. I lost so much confidence and over the years I’ve spent so much time trying to understand my skin and find the best products for it. So when Simple asked if I wanted to go along to one of their Skin Social workshops to learn about skincare I jumped at the chance!

I’ve always been a big fan of Simple skincare, over the years I’ve used their facewipes, toner and eye makeup remover as staples in my bathroom. So I was really interested to learn more about the products and my skin. Skin Social was set up to be a place where you can find more out about skin, and all the things you can do besides skincare to help it.

The story behind Skin Social is really nice too. It was set up with the help from people like you and I, people interested in skincare, along with Zoella and the help of vlogger Charlotte AKA PunkChyaz (who has the most beautiful hair!!!).

simple new2

The main thing I came away having leant was to keep my skincare as simple as possible. Their products and the ingredients in them live by this, hence the name Simple! Overcomplicating things can actually make skin worse! We also got to make our own yummy fruit water which I will definitely be recreating because drinking water is one of the best things you can do for your skin. Finally, we did a few little exercises and relaxation tips which is all really important for skin too.

simple new

I’ve picked out my favourite picks – the radiance facewipes, illuminating cream, spot zapper, BB balm, and hydrating light moisturiser. You can see most of them in action in my morning skincare routine here.

simple

They’ve just recruited 4 interns to help make sure the site is packed full of fun new ideas too.

You can check out Simple’s Skin Social here on tubler or on the main website here. What’s your biggest skin problem? What do you do when you’re having a bad skin day? Love Becky x
