follow link First of all, I just want to say if feels really lovely to be writing this as I haven’t blogged in ages. I loved setting this blog up, but I’ve never been as confident at writing as I have talking (surprise surprise) so it’s been a little neglected over the past few months. So i’ve decided to make this a weekly blog. Every Friday i’ll be posting, and I’m going to make it a little more personal too so a bit about what I’ve been doing that week. I don’t have a separate vlog channel so i’ll be sharing a lot more of my life on here along with product reviews from what I’ve been using or new releases. So here’s to 2016 and the Friday blog.
follow url So this week I’ve come away skiing with my best friend Jemma and my family. We always try to come away for New Year just to take a bit of time out in the mountains and spend quality time together chatting round a log fire. It’s moments like this I treasure forever. This year there hasn’t been much snow but we’ve had lots of time to relax and laugh. Jemma has the most amazing blog called Sensitive Shell which you can read here. She has very sensitive skin and eczema and can’t have dairy, yet she finds the best products that really work for her and I can’t recommend it enough if you are looking for products like that or just want a really good read with the most incredible photos and a good laugh. Go and say hi!
si guadagna davvero con le opzioni binarie When I’m away in the snow I pretty much go makeup free but I binge on the best of the best for winter skincare and rely on it to keep my skin hydrated without breaking out in spots. I’m super picky with skincare. The main thing I struggle with is lips, so I bring three! The first, my Kiehls Lip Balm #1 which is really good at protecting lips against the cold and wind. I use this when I’m skiing as it doesn’t really smell and has SPF in it. Then I bring my Nuxe Reve de miel which is a really intense thick lip mask which I use at night to repair my lips. It’s got a really subtle floral smell but is a bit too thick to wear in the day for me so I put this on before bed. It’s packed with plant extracts, oils and shea butter so if you’re looking for a bit of a repair product, this is it. Finally I’ve got my Clarins lip comfort oil in honey which has fast become a fave for me the last month. I love Clarins because their products are filled with plant extracts and this leaves your lips really soft but is super shiny and smells really sweet. It’s great at night if you love gloss like I do. Plus the applicator holds a huge amount of product so you don’t have to apply loads.

It contains both almond milk and almond oil but is really light so your hands don’t feel sticky. I’ve packed my beauty staple Caudalie Beauty Elixir mini which is always in my travel bag. I usually hate face sprays, I don’t get the point of them, but this one is incredible. It’s made from grape extract and packed with anti-oxidants which leave my skin feeling so fresh. It smells of mint which I love and I use this as a toner. I’ve really got into using serums after my sister telling me the importance of using them (she has great skin) and I since my Superdrug one ran out I’ve been using the Sarah Chapman age repair serum. This is a range I’ve wanted to try for a while but have always resisted……why oh why didn’t I try this before! Oh my goodness, this has made my skin look so much smoother and I am noticing such a difference in the way my skin looks. It’s got peptides in which for me really helps to plump my skin without feeling greasy. It’s £48 but probably the best serum I’ve ever owned. The overnight facial is next on my list to try! I’m a firm believer in finding cheaper makeup but if you’re going to spend your money, spend it on skincare. You won’t regret it.
My cleanser is my go-to yearly favourite Aurelia miracle cleanser which has won loads of awards and not surprisingly. First of all the smell is absolutely gorgeous. It’s got eucalyptus, bergamot and chamomile so I really look forward to putting this on. It’s probiotic skincare so is doing a lot to help the skin. It’s really creamy and great at pulling all the makeup off, you use this with a hot cloth so it really opens up all the pores and feels lovely. My skin looks so much brighter when I’ve used this. Next up exfoliation, and I’ve got my Goldfaden MD Doctors scrub. I’ve talked about this lots this year and am pretty stuck at only wanting to use this because I can’t find a better one. It’s certainly not cheap at £65, but it contains ruby crystals and is basically a microdermabrasion exfoliator so get ready for a serious scrub! At first I didn’t think I would like this, but after using it three of four times my skin got used to this and now I used it every other day and nothing else will get rid of the rough patches I struggle with.
source site For my day eye cream I’ve got my Elemis pro-radiance illuminating eye balm. I had been waiting for years for Elemis to bring out a decent eye cream as I felt like it was missing from their range, and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. It’s got chamomile and arnica in so it really nourishes but for me the best part is the cooling applicator. It’s so lovely putting this on. It’s also got blurring powder in it and brighteners so it blurs the under eye area almost like a really subtle concealer. You don’t need much of this product at a time. For my day cream when I’m not skiing I’ve got the Body Shop Drops of Youth moisturiser. I’ve dabbled in the Body Shop skincare but this is hands down my favourite so far. As I said, I’m super picky with skincare, but this is one I can see myself sticking with as I’m really impressed with the results. I loved their drops of youth range but I think this is going to be popular for people looking for an everyday moisturiser that is great for combination skin but also gives you a slight blurring effect. I’m all about plumping now and this is really good for that. Used with the Sarah Chapman serum, this looks incredible. It’s so affordable and I would put this up with some of my high end day moisturisers.
At night I swap things up a bit and change to my First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydra-firm Sleeping Cream. This is a really good overnight facial. If you’re looking for serious hydration but don’t want something that feels heavy and oily, then this is it. I loved the day version of this, but this is a more intense version and really helps to firm and hydrate my skin with the conditioning butters. It doesn’t really smell of much, so would be good if you’re not overly wowed by products that smell or have sensitive skin. For my eye cream I’ve got my Caudalie eye lifting balm. I’m really trying to prevents any wrinkles and fine lines as I know they are not far around the corner and to be honest I already have quite a few. This is packed with peptides so it’s going to give you all the help you need with helping to lift the eyes, prevent ageing and smooth over any fine lines.
Just because I’m skiing, doesn’t mean I don’t want to be hair free so I’ve packed my Venus snap razor. Venus razors are pretty much the only ones I will ever use because I can shave in a hurry and won’t be covered in cuts. They usually have four of five blades and if you use them with the Olay head then you’ve got loads of moisture going onto your skin and you don’t need to use a shaving cream. The snap is the same head but a smaller handle and comes with a really handy case that means your razor is well protected. I use this at home when I’m away for the night. Then for a bit of a face mask detox I’ve got my Soap and Glory Fab Pore mask and peel. This is so good at getting rid of blemishes and spots that I have. It really gently gets rid of dead skin cells and helps to shrink pores as well as getting rid of any excess oil which I really struggle with.
I love the mountain water because my hair always feel so soft. I am so lazy with washing my hair when I’m away and I get through so much dry shampoo. My current favourite is the Alberto Balsam clear and fresh which has a green tea and citrus scent. This is probably the best smelling dry shampoo I own because it’s so fresh. It doesn’t irritate my scalp and doesn’t leave my hair feeling gritty or looking white. So it gets all the ticks from me. Shampoo and conditioner wise I actually forgot mine so I managed to find one of my current faves from L’Oreal Paris. I’ve been using the Extreme Total Repair and it’s left my hair looking and feeling so healthy which I can’t seen to find online in the UK but here is the Total Repair which is my UK favourite. Everytime someone asks me about the best drugstore shampoo I will usually direct them to L’Oreal Paris. They are just as good as some of my high end ones and I don’t understand how they are able to sell them for the price they are because the formula is just incredible. Luckily I didn’t forget my L’Oreal Paris Total Repair 5 CICA Cream. This is my third bottle! You can put this on when your hair is wet or dry and it really helps damaged hair to smooth the ends and keep it looking shiny and healthy all day long. My affordable hair hero.
Finally, when I’m out on the slopes and need some serious SPF. I’ve got my Clarins UV Plus Day Screen (SPF 50) which again has all the plant extracts you’d expect from Clarins but is one of the very few higher SPFs that doesn’t leave you looking white as a ghost or with a thick layer of grease on your face. I love it. And no burn at the end of the day which is always a huge test for me of sun screens!
Because it’s New Year and I’m all about reflecting and planning, I’ve been listening to loads of music whilst i’m out here. My headphones are from Claires and I just fell in love with the design. The sound is pretty good considering how affordable they are too. My diary is from Paperchase. It was a present and I just love the glitter on it. I’ve written down so many goals and hopes for next year, mainly to take more time with family and to relax more. Life is so precious, make the most of every moment. So i’ll leave you with this quote. I have realised in 2015 I’ve held on to a lot that perhaps hasn’t been good for me. Stress from work, friendships that haven’t been that good, feelings about love that can’t be changed. So as hard as it is, 2016 for me is going to be all about letting go and moving forward. Here’s to the year of letting go and embracing the ‘right now’. What’s your favourite quote? Becky xxx
