Tis the season to be jolly, and this Christmas I had a little more to smile about than expected. I knew this year was going to be a tough one, the first one without dad, but my friends and family made it so much easier. I’ve picked out some of my favourite beauty and fashion products in this what I got for Christmas video!
These are always some of my favourite to watch for two reasons – first of all I think the gifts people get tell you so much about them as a person and what they like, second, I get so many gift ideas for me and others from watching these!!
This year I was just so lucky to be surrounded by family, that was the biggest gift of them all. Along with that I got some beautiful jewellery, luggage, clothes, haircare and other gorgeous bits! Also there is a DIY present in this video that made me cry when I opened it, I think it’s something you should all do for one of your friends it was just so special.
I hope you all had the best Christmas and have the most amazing New Year. Just a little apology here for not posting as much in December, it hit me a little harder than I thought emotionally and I’ve taken lots of time out to be with my family. There is a special announcement at the end of the video that I hope will make up for it! Love you all, Becky xx
This was by far one of my favourite videos to put together for you. I am feeling so Christmassy and have been spending most evenings wrapping presents, drinking mulled wine and visiting friends! So I wanted to put together a winter evening routine video showing you how to touch your makeup up if you’re popping out for the evening, but don’t want to spend ages getting ready. After all Christmas time is about relaxing right?
A few things that I’m really excited to tell you about….first of all a new Soap and Glory blush that doubles up as a highlighter too. It’s multi-shade so really is perfect for defining and giving a little sparkle. Also, make sure you watch right until the end as I’ve got a cute little gift guide if you’re last minute buying for men for Christmas. There’s a pair of cufflinks that I think you’ll fall in love with, in fact there’s a load of jewellery on that site that you might just want to keep for yourself! Happy shopping, Becky x
Can we just take a minute to appreciate how g-daamnn cute these nails are! This time of year just about anything goes when it comes to nails, and I think I’ve found my favourite design to date! Usually I’m reaching for the glitter but the Body Shop has a new charity campaign that I just had to try and recreate!
Usually I’m pretty afraid when it comes to nail art because of my shaky hands, but I was so surprised at how they turned out! I couldn’t decide which design to do so I ended up doing one hand in each design! The Body Shop has teamed up with nail blogger Antonia who has created 2 super cute designs. Check out her instagram here for total nail envy she is just amazing! For every instagram picture uploaded with the #nailit4charity between now and 31st December, the Body Shop will give a contribution to War Child which funds a class for a child. I paint my nails all the time so it might as well be for a good cause!
You can try to recreate the two designs or make up your own! I used the Body Shop nail polishes but you can use whichever you have at home. One top tip, use a nail art pen as it makes it so much easier! You can pick one up for around £5 online here. I had so much fun doing this and have had so many comments on my nails, I can’t wait to try some more and now I feel properly in the Christmas spirit! If you tweet me yours (@talkbeckytalk) i’ll make sure I retweet them! Becky x
It’s that time of month again, November favourites! As the winter officially arrives i’ve picked out everything I’ve been loving this month! I feel like there are so many more beautiful products coming out now we are nearing Christmas, and I’ve tried to pack this video full of some of my faves!
Among it all is something from a new line from the Body Shop. They have just released the vanilla brulee range in time for Christmas and I think you’ll fall head over heels in love with the smell! Also, if you’re looking for a dress for a special Christmas or New Years Eve party I think I might have found the one for you. This one is from Quiz, I got it online at House of Fraser.
So here’s the video! What have you been loving in November that you can’t live without? Becky x
It’s that time of year again, the Christmas parties start and it’s time to get the legs out, having fast faded back to pale from the long-gone summer sun! Now when it comes to fake tan, I tend to be a little lazy. I never seem to leave enough time aside before events so I think I’ve found a better solution from Sally Hansen!
I first found the Airbrush Legs when I was out in America over in the Spring for Vidcon. My legs were looking so blotchy and I had packed a load of dresses to wear so I gave this a try. The concept is pretty easy, spray, rub and go! The tan comes in a can that you hold a little way away from your skin and then spray on. I’m not usually a fan of spray on tans but I loved this so much I went and got 3 cans! It literally looks as if your legs have been airbrushed! There is a slight sparkle to the tan, almost as if you’ve got clear tights on with a little sheen, so subtle that I don’t think it’s shown up on camera very well. Here’s the before and after.
In terms of application, either do this over a dark towel or in the shower as it can spray in places you don’t want it too. I find the best way is to actually spray into your hand and then rub into your legs. The smell of it is quite nice actually, not like a usual fake tan, and it’s easy to wash off your hands so you don’t need to faff around with a glove.
The tan lasts about 3 or 4 days for me, and even after then i’ve still got a nice colour on my legs. The winner for me about this was the way it blurs your legs. You’re not just getting a colour, somehow it manages to even everything out so it literally looks as if you’re wearing tights. I really hate my legs, I have little red veins and cellulite and with this it’s almost invisible so I feel fine to go out with no tights on. I’m hooked! The only thing I would say is make sure you shower before you go to bed, it has a habbit of rubbing off on sheets so after your party or event, shower the bulk of it off so it doesn’t get on your sheets!
This is one of my new party favourites and is honestly so easy to do if you hate putting tan on like me! It’s on offer at the moment in Superdrug for £6.66 or drugstores if you’re in the US. I got mine in light but there is medium and dark is you have darker skin than me. What’s your party must-have? Becky x
I love a Christmas haul, they are some of my favourites to do! So when I saw the new winter bedding in Primark I couldn’t resist! There are so many cheap presents and clothes and of course I was sold at the first sight of the gingerbread onesie!
Also, I want to let you know about a campaign I’m trying to raise awareness of this month and really hope you can all join in too! During November you might notice guys (Mo bros) growing moustaches for #Movember. It’s all to raise awareness of mens health including mental health and cancer. So this year, I’m so excited to say that Aussie hair are the first female sponsor of Movember encouraging girls to get involved too. All you need to do is snap a selfie of you with a styled #Misstache using your hair, then share it on social media. You can share it here on the Aussie Hair Facebook page, and also check out the other Mo Sistas in action in this video for some inspiration!
Here is my attempt!! It’s for such a good cause so make sure you join in and tell all your friends about it. If you tweet me (@talkbeckytalk) i’ll be retweeting yours too! So grab a cuppa and get ready for a huge Primark haul!! Where have you found a load of cool Christmas goodies? Becky x
Lead me not into temptation….I just can’t resist a gorgeous nail polish! Particularly when it’s a brand I’m trying for the first time! I posted a photo of me wearing this polish and lots of you asked to know more about it so I wanted to write a little post about Nailberry.
I first came across this brand about a month ago and have managed to get my hands on two colours, a striking red (pop my berry) and a gorgeous grey (stone) for the Autumn. Having never worn red on my nails before, I finally took the plunge and braved the bright….and I LOVED it!
I liked the idea behind Nailberry, the polishes are free from the 4 things that can weaken your nails, Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP and Camphor. That means nothing to me but I know that there is usually a lot of stuff in polishes that is bad for your nails, and this strips all of that out. Plus none of the polishes are tested on animals which ticks a lot of boxes for me.
The polish itself is beautiful. The applicator brush is a dream, it goes on really nicely and is perfect after two coats. I was really impressed with the pigmentation, because stripping away 4 of the ingredients I was a little worried the finish may suffer. But is doesn’t. This was the polish with no gloss, I actually didn’t feel I needed it as it has enough shine for me.
This is it after 7 days. I can hand on heart say that this is probably one of the best polishes in terms of not chipping! Only a couple of nails had chipped after over a week I was so impressed. The colours you can choose from are insane! I’m literally counting the months down until I can try out their neons that look so fun! In the meantime things are about to get a whole lot darker for my nails and I’m really excited to try out some of the other shades.
They are available at some nail bars or online here for £13.50. They aren’t the cheapest of polishes, but if you want something that is really good quality, will last a long time, and won’t completely break the bank, then I would highly recommend trying these bad boys out! What’s your favourite nail polish colour going into the Autumn? Becky x
There’s a new brand in town, make way for Delilah cosmetics. I usually wait until the buzz of a new line is over but this one had me intrigued. It’s been set up from a partnership between a makeup artist, beauty buyer and a photographer. So I had a sneaky suspicion this was going to be good.
The idea behind the range is to offer a bit of luxury that can be used everyday. With most of the products hitting between £20 and £50, I was hoping for big things to justify spending that little bit extra. The two products I managed to get my hands on were the sunset bronzer and one of the blushers. The first thing that caught my eye was the packaging. Both products come in a beautiful aluminium case, with a little rose gold ring around the middle and a velvet pouch to keep them safe.
The sunset bronzer is totally matte which is what I’m looking for to take me into the fall, and will suit those of you who don’t like glitter in bronzers. I was so impressed by the pigmentation, if you use a small contour brush you can get some really good definition. I’m really no good at contouring properly at the moment but this really helped get the look I was after! There are two shades to choose from too. I quite like the idea it’s packed with vitamin E and jojoba oil, although it didn’t feel much different when I put it on, just very soft! At £34 it’s not cheap, but this will last me years and I think it’s safe to say it’s definitely one of the best bronzers I now own.
The lulluby blusher is similar in pigmentation and gives a really nice glow. There are 3 colours to choose from, I’m hoping they bring out some slightly more neutral ones as this was a little too bright for me, but if you’re used to wearing more colour then you will love it.
So, as I thought, it didn’t fail to impress. I’m really excited to try some of the base products (concealer, foundation and powder). The choice of products in this section looks really good so I’ll be keeping a lookout for those! Have you tried any of the products? Love Becky x
Last night I went to one of my best friends’ engagement parties in London. I wanted to dress up for the event so I packed some of my current makeup faves that I know are going to give me the coverage I want for a night out and last all evening! My jumpsuit is from Very, my bag and shoes are from Kurt Geiger.
First up for the base and to set everything in place I used my Illamasque primer. I’d heard so many good things about this and it doesn’t fail to disappoint. It feels nice and silky when you apply it and although it gets rid of any grease, it doesn’t leave your skin looking dry and kept my makeup on all night. I chose my Armani Luminous silk foundation which is my go-to foundation for nights out. It gives a nice full coverage without making you look cakey. The foundation itself needs a bit of time to put on, you can’t rush it, but it leaves a beautiful flawless finish and sits halfway between matte and dewy. Then onto my hourglass concealer. I’ve broken out in spots so badly recently so this is perfect because it’s nice and thick and doesn’t slide off my skin. It covers everything!!! And then I set it all in place with my Mac Studio Fix powder which is perfect for getting rid of any shine and adds a little more cover so your skin is totally flawless.
Next to add a little colour, I used my Delilah sunset bronzer. This is something I’ve been using almost every single day. It’s a pretty new brand that’s popped up and I have to say from what I’ve tried so far I’m really impressed. The packaging is gorgeous, the chrome looks so nice. The product itself hits high in terms of staying power, definition and contours so beautifully. It doesn’t have any glitter in either which is what I want when I go into the fall. Blusher wise I used my Becca flowerchild which has fast become a yearly fave. The colour is just beautiful, the pigmentation is great and it lasts all evening.
Onto eyes! To sort out my eyebrows I used the Soap and Glory Archery pen. Now I know this completely divides people but I love it! It has a little felt-tip on one end so you can go around the whole eyebrow and draw a perfect shape and then a pencil to fill in. It works perfectly for me because I find it so easy, the only thing I wish it had was a little brush! Then I used my Urban Decay 24/7 glide on eye pencil in oil slick. This goes on so easily, stays on for hours, the pigmentation is amazing and it has a little glitter in which looks so pretty on your eyes! I used some eyeylure lashes tonight too. I’m not usually a fan of fake lashes because of how they feel but I have to say I was so impressed with these. They were pretty easy to put on, and that’s usually my downfall! One started to come loose after about 4 hours but as lashes go they are probably some of the best I’ve used and didn’t look fake! Finally I finished my eyes off with my product of the moment the Max Factor Masterpiece transform mascara in black brown. This is simply amazing. First I love that it’s brown but it’s still statement enough. Second I love the brush and how it builds, it leaves your lashes looking so full and defined. I love it!
Finally for my lips I lined them with my favourite liner for fall the Max Factor colour elixir in pink petal which is beautiful if you love natural looking lips. It helps define and has enough pigmentation but is really subtle and glides on so easily. Finally I finished it off with my Benefit Hervana ultra plush lipgloss. This smells and feels so good! It’s so nice and glossy but not sticky. You need to top it up after a few hours so I took this along with me but I felt like it was the perfect colour going into the fall, slightly darker than a nude but still safe enough in terms of colour for me! I love the application too, you just squeeze it straight onto your lips and use the tip to smooth it on.
And then finally it was hair time! I used my curlers of the moment, the Jose Eber 35mm wand. This wand isn’t cheap at £120 but it’s well worth it! It’s the best wand I own for two reasons – It leaves me with big bouncy natural looking curls and they stay in for so long! I can’t recommend these enough to you, well worth saving up for! Then I used my Philip Kingley daily damage defence to protect my hair, I like this because I don’t even notice it! It leaves my hair feeling so soft and not sticky and I know it’s helping against the heat damage! A quick spray of my L’Oreal Elnett Satin hairspray to make it all stay in place which brushes out and looks so natural. Then all topped off with a little Alterna Caviar CC cream to smooth over any flyaway hairs. This smells so good and leaves my hair feeling so silky!
So that was what I used! I had so much fun last night and so much fun writing this! Let me know in the comments below if you’d like more posts like this from when I go out! Hope you’re all having a great weekend! Love Becky x
I always get excited when Elemis launch a new product, but this one I was extra excited about. I’ve long been a fan of the frangipani range – at the moment they’ve got a frangipani body scrub, frangipani shower cream and the hero product frangipani monoi body oil. If you’ve even smelt this range you’ll know what I mean about the smell, it literally had me hooked from the word go! To celebrate 10 years of the oil, they’ve completed the little family with a body cream. Holy macaroni. All hail the greatest body cream ever made, well, in my eyes!
The smell is the first thing that hits you. Sticking to the same frangipani smell, it’s like a burst of flowers but so much more deep and rich. The cream itself contains macadamia and sesame oil so leaves you feeling so soft. I can smell the cream on me for hours after I apply it. I tend to look a little strange because I just can’t help but keep smelling myself when I’ve got it on! It’s not too thick and it’s not too thin. I’m like how Goldilocks likes her porridge when it comes to body creams – just right!
The Elemis Frangipani Monoi body cream is not the cheapest at £24 but it’s well worth the price tag in my opinion. Especially if you’re stuck for a present. I know what I’m getting everyone for Christmas! If only they sold it by the bucket! What’s your favourite Elemis product? Have you tried the frangipani range? Love Becky x
