Budget Korean Skincare & Health Update

I can’t believe it’s been a week already since the first ‘Sunday Cuppa’ blog. I’m really enjoying writing these and doing a kind of ‘week in focus’. There have also been two budget skincare products that have completely shocked me and I’ve made a part of my everyday routine which I’ll come onto at the end of this post which every girl needs in their skincare collection!

I’ve spent a lot of time this week at home. I haven’t spoken out much about my health apart from being coeliac, but the past 12 months I’ve been battling something that has really changed my lifestyle, health and self confidence that I decided I wanted to keep private. Consequently, my immune system isn’t great so I can get quite ill and since February I noticed something wasn’t right. I know this is embarrassing for a lot of women to talk about, so I wanted to talk about it here as a place to share our stories and advice with each other. I was in a huge amount of pain in my pelvic area, my urine had blood in it and I would regularly lose control of my bladder. This happens often when I’m in public places and I’ve started to need to go to the toilet up to about 6 times an hour. I went for tests earlier this year but they sent me away with a few pain killers. I’m a true believer in not giving up when it comes to healthcare, so I went back and asked for more tests. Turns out I have a kidney infection, so as painful as it is, I’m relieved to finally know what it is.

cupp1

So I’ve had a lot of ‘me’ time this week. We had so much rain and one night I decided to sleep up in the loft. It was amazing falling asleep and waking up to the sound of rain, I find it so comforting. Then last night Dave and I spent time outside wrapped up in blankets watching the meteor shower. I had to drag him outside but it was so worth it. If you ever get the chance to do that, take the time to go outside and look up. It’s the most beautiful thing you’ll ever see and share with someone, shooting stars and the whole sky lighting up with meteors. I don’t know why but I feel incredibly close to those who aren’t here anymore when I look at the stars.

cuppa2

Dave surprised me with a delivery of gluten free bread mix this week when I wasn’t feeling well. One of the things I miss the most being coeliac is freshly baked crusty bread. He found an amazing company called Rana’s Artisan Bread. After her diagnosis she set out to create the most amazing bread mixes that people could easily make at home, and she did it. I baked my first sourdough loaf this week, and I was blown away at how good is tasted and how much it smelt and looked like bread! You just mix it with water and then put it in a bag that they give you. Pop it in the oven and then 80 minutes later you have your very own gluten free loaf. It’s genius and given me so much pleasure waking up and having marmalade toast! Plus the house smells so good after I’ve just baked it.

cuppa3

We went for a beautiful walk at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire this week. It’s one of my favourite places to go and I’d really recommend you visit if you ever get the chance. We thought about it for a wedding venue, but I think it’s a little too grand for what we are looking for. We are still so stuck in terms of the venue, so please leave any suggestions below! I’ve just posted our wedding planning video which you can watch here, we are away in Paris in the video and I’m really excited to share this first step with you all.

cuppa7

And finally, onto all things beauty! First of all there are the two skincare game changers for me that I talked about above. First of all, a bit of Korean skincare. I’ve heard a lot of hype around Korean beauty products and I have to be honest the ones that I’ve tried have really disappointed me. I decided to give it one last try, this time with the AragoSpa aqua deep cream. It uses a type of thermal water which is really lightweight but fast absorbing and hydrating. First of all it smells gorgeous, quite citrusy but not too overpowering. The cream is one of the best day creams I had EVER used, both Dave and I are now fighting over it in the morning. This is good for combination or dry skin, it’s quite thick so if you have oily skin I’d look to see if they have an alternative version for you. It hydrated immediately, left my skin softer than most of my high end ones do, and is on sale for £16 if you can find a site that hasn’t sold out because it’s that good!

cuppa4

The second is one by Marks and Spencer beauty, Formula Absolute Ultimate Sleep Cream, that I’ve been using as a night cream. This claims to make you look like you’ve had 8 hours sleep even if you haven’t, and has sold out a number of times mainly because of the £22 price tag! I was so sceptical about this because when I haven’t had 8 hours sleep I look dreadful and no cream can help me with that! I love the texture of this, it’s incredibly moisturising, again I would say only use this if you have either combination or dry skin. Unlike the one above, you need to stick with this for about a week until you really SEE the difference. You’ll feel it straight away but after about a week I genuinely felt much better about my skin, especially because I was ill. It still doesn’t beat my all time favourite Elemis Marine cream, but it’s a winner for me if you don’t want to pay the price tag of that and I love the rose  packaging!

The Sunday Cuppa

Happy Friday my little lovelies. It’s the first weekend in August and despite a gloomy forecast of rain, I’m hoping to make August really positive and full of change. I’ve started a series over on my YouTube channel called #TeaDiaries where I sit down with a cuppa and talk about different topics, often very personal, and share my stories of life, family, relationships, health and all the things we go through in life. This week I talked all about why I lost all body confidence and how social media has had an impact on how we compare ourselves and see ourselves.

pic

My YouTube channel started out as a very chatty channel, and over the years it’s changed which inevitable happens when you buy snazzy cameras and editing programmes, so I wanted to get a little bit of where I started back. I’ve been notoriously bad at updating my blog because my videos get so much of my love and attention, so I’m going to start the Sunday Cuppa over on my blog. Each Sunday, I’m going to try to post something new on here, talking all about what I’ve been up to this week, newness I’m loving and any heart to heart topics I feel I want to talk about.

tea

So this week I went to Paris. Dave and I spent 24 hours in the city of love to celebrate our engagement and start wedding planning. It was a little overwhelming when we got home after getting engaged so we put talks on hold for a while to just enjoy being together. This week we’ve made some really exciting decisions, so I’m going to be posting a video in a week or so about future plans and also the most incredible trip and where we stayed and what we did. Foodie lovers you won’t want to miss that video!

pic1 pic2 pic3

We’ve also spent a lot of time in the garden growing my new tea garden (yes I’m growing all my own teas now!) and making the final touches to our new home. It’s been so nice taking pictures of the house coming along so we can document it. I’ve been photobombing so many of my photos with the Ribena Doodle Your World App. You might have seen a few go up on my Instagram. If you get addicted to filters or new things for your pictures then you’ll love this. I’ve seen a few go up of pineapples chasing people but I can’t get Bee to stay still for long enough! It’s really fun and once you start you won’t be able to stop!

pic4

pic5

And newness this week that I’ve been loving – The gorgeous Grace Victory bought out a book called No Filter. She’s one of the most down to earth bloggers I have ever met so I’m really excited to read this and the difficult obstacles she’s overcome in her life.

pic7

Oh and Zoella bought out her new ‘Jelly and Gelato‘ range of bath and body products, gelato themed, they smell absolutely amazing I can’t wait to try them and have a pamper session, I loved the last range so much!

pic6

Happy Friday guys and let me know what topics you’d like me to talk about next week.

CHRISTMAS PARTY NAIL ART!

When it comes to Christmas and the party season apart from wrapping presents and decorating the house I go all out with pampering myself and getting as festive as possible with nails! Last year I did penguins, and this year I wanted to try to do a different style on each finger. I’m so pleased with how they turned out and they were so easy to do so I wanted to show you how you can do something similar with yours!

sally1

So first of all, nail care is a really important part of your nail routine and Sally Hansen do some really good products for this. I’m trying to grow mine, so if you can prep before you paint you won’t be left with discoloured nails when all the partying is over!

img_0035

sally3

sally4

OK so seeing as Christmas is all about red, I picked out two different shades of the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in bordeaux glow (the darker red) and rhapsody red. I love these gels, they are so thick and shiny and you don’t need a light to set them just the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel top coat. Plus they are much easier to take off than normal gel, you just use nail polish remover. These are incredible polishes, I tell everyone to have at least one in their makeup collection! I first got hooked on Sally Hansen with all the nail care and nail growth range when I was a teenager, and now I’m slowly building up the colours. The brush is really wide too which makes it a dream to paint your nails.

img_0037

sally2

Once you’ve got two coats of colour on, let it dry. Have a bit of a me moment and let it really dry well because otherwise you’ll smudge the polish when it comes to painting nail art. I used nail gems which I picked up from the market and the Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Pen. At the moment this is free when you buy any two Sally Hansen products from Superdrug. Shake it really well to get the colour on the tip and then you’re ready to go.

sally5

For my thumb I did a christmas tree just by doing zig zags and a gem at the top. Try to do all the designs with the top at your cuticle, then it looks the right way up in photos…..it’s all about the Instagram pictures right?! Next along I did two silver lines and two lines of gems. I painted this on the ‘bordeaux glow’ colour so it stood out more. To stick the gems on wait until the silver pen has dried, then paint a coat of the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat on and stick on the gems, then put another layer of the top coat on to secure them even more. The snowflake is my favourite and actually really easy to do. Just draw a cross, then another cross diagonally so you’ve got your eight lines and then add on the little flecks. Then put a gem in the middle. Next was my present so again first do a cross, then add little circles for the bows and then a gem in the middle. Finally, for my little finger because I love sparkles so much I covered the whole nail in gems. If you can’t go all out at Christmas when can you??

Then paint a layer of the Sally Hansen gel top coat over the top to make them really shine and it will help the nail art last for longer when you’re out partying! There are over 40 shades in the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel collection as well as the top coat and you can get one for £9.99 here  I really want to see your festive nails so make sure you tag me (@talkbeckytalk) and I’ll be reposting your pictures! Which is your favourite nail? Love Becky x

My Ultimate Autumn Treats!

Living each day to the max is important, but taking the time to relax is even more so. Sometimes I get to 9pm and wonder where the day has gone, I collapse in bed and forget about taking any time for me. As the nights are getting darker and the days are getting colder it’s made me think about all the things I can do to feel as cosy and relaxed as I can. So I wanted to write a bit of a TLC guide to tell you about all the things I love to do to feel pampered and ready for the Autumn!

palm5

I get quite anxious and stressed and i’m always looking for things that force me to slow down and relax. So a few weeks ago I set myself the challenge of learning how to knit! I love snuggly hats in the cold so I knitted this one and have been wearing it almost every day. It was so therapeutic learning how to do this and it feels so good to know I made it!

palm12 palm3

Morning and evening pampering is a TLC must for me, and you don’t have to have hours to do this. I’m all about the indulgence and sweet treats so I was really excited to try Palmolive’s new Gourmet Body Butter Shower Cream as a new addition to my Autumn pamper routine. My favourite is the chocolate one – think hot chocolate and marshmallows and everything a chocoholic would love! It’s made with cocoa extract so you can imagine the smell. I’ve really tried hard this year to find products that embrace and make the most of all the amazing natural ingredients we have around us, and this range does exactly that. It’s incredibly rich and moisturising which my skin really needs at this time of the year. It makes my pampering sessions even more luxurious and relaxing!

palm2

They also have Strawberry Touch and Vanilla Pleasure which would be good if you prefer something a little more fruity! I took these away with me on a weekend away and the whole bathroom smelt like a spa. They feel so soft and luxurious on your skin, and let’s face it our skin needs all the help it can get as it starts to get colder! You can get the range from Superdrug here.

palm4

palm8

Food and drink is a big part of my life and I take a little more time as it gets colder to make a few treats. In the morning I love this gluten free porridge with honey and nuts or my homemade granola which you can watch how to make in my ‘What I Eat In A Day’ video. My absolute favourite thing when I’m having a ‘me moment’ is hot chocolate in front of the fire. When I really want to pamper myself I go all out and add cream, marshmallows and a flake. It’s so comforting at this time of the year. I got this recipe from DrinksTube where I make tea videos which is a really good go-to for Autumn drinks!

palm7

Finally, I get so much of the feel-good factor from shopping and I love this time of year for that! I did a snuggly clothing haul recently and picked up a few scarfs, gloves, hats and boots. This has to be one of my favourite times of the year for spoiling myself shopping and I love the colours for Autumn as well as all the gorgeous knits and fabrics.

So in between all the hustle and bustle, try to take a little bit of time out to relax. It makes such a difference to my mood and it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. What are your favourite things to do to relax and pamper yourself at this time of the year? Becky x

New Home and My Future Dreams #ad

Hey guys, I thought I’d give you a little life update here over on my blog! Apart from beauty, more and more of my videos are becoming about my home life and interior and general life topics as I grow up and start having to make lots of decisions. I get a lot of questions about growing up and all the things that come with it, like jobs, relationships, money and buying houses. As some of you might know I have moved house this week (with my sister Holly) and it feels great to finally be in. So I wanted to share a few pictures of our new home – these will be the first sneak peek pictures I’ve shared online! And I also wanted to talk about what I hope will happen in the next chapter of my life!

I’ve gone through quite a few changes this year, and it’s made me think about my future and what I want from it. I’ve been playing around with Aviva’s Shape my Future tool and it’s been so fun looking at what my hopes for the future are and what I need to do to get there. It’s so easy to use and it lets you daydream about the future you might want, and then looks at how much you’ll need to afford all the things you want!

aviva1

aviva3

Family is a huge part of my life, and I know that over the next few years I would love to settle down and start thinking about having a family. I’d love to have a huge wedding with all my family and friends and probably make it last the whole weekend. I would love to have children and I hope I’ll be able to help them with school and university and all the things my parents helped me with which is so expensive now! I would love to find a dream home for us all to live in, hopefully near my sister and her family, and maybe a holiday home where we can go each year. Travelling is such a big part of my life and I hope I can do that in years to come and take my family too. I’m also taking big steps this year to eat better and be more active so I really hope in the future I’ll have enough money to keep buying really good quality food and to do all the activities like yoga that I love doing.

aviva4

I was quite surprised about how much the future I want will cost, but I was also really happy that I’m already taking steps to save and earn so hopefully I won’t be too far off where I want to be. I did a bit of a fun twist on the popular ‘draw my life’ tag that was going around on YouTube, and decided to do a ‘draw my future’. It talks about a lot of my dreams and hopes that I’ve never shared online, you can watch the full video here, I’m even in a wedding dress! You can have a play with the Shape my Future tool here, it’s so fun and I think you’ll be quite surprised! I really hope it helps some of you in the way it helped me.

So now for the next chapter of my life, my new home. Here are a few pictures of my new house and I’m so excited to share these! Already it feels so much more like a home than where we are before. It was scary moving again and realising we weren’t happy there, so it’s made me think a lot more about planning things a little better in the future! A lot of you guys reached out to me saying you were in the same situation. A house has to feel like a home and I think we have finally found it.

Bronzed and Ready for London Fashion Week

Each time London Fashion Week comes around I get so excited but I also get a little nervous about what to wear and how hectic it’s going to be! This year there was a lot of emphasis about body shape, which I’m really in support of, so I decided to keep things fairly simple. Whatever I’m wearing, I always feel better when I’m bronzed, I always think it looks better in photos!

vl1

I’ve just got back off holiday and I’ve been using the Vita Liberata pHenomenal 2-3 week self tan. I find the medium mousse works really well for my skin colour, and lasts so well as a base tan to get me through the week. I’ve always favoured mousses because they are so easy to apply, and this one doesn’t have that distinct tan smell that puts some people off.

vl2

I decided to wear a skirt at LFW so I needed a little extra help for my legs and here is a hero product that I tell all my friends and family about. It’s the Vita Liberata Body Blur and I’ve been using it religiously for a while now. It’s amazing if you’re going to an event or are in a rush and want a product that will instantly tan you on your body or face but also covers up bruises and little veins. Goodbye blotchy legs! My friends get addicted to this when they try mine before we go out and then the next day I’ve usually got a text asking what that ‘amazing’ blur product was. I even find it helps cover cellulite so I don’t need to wear tights.  Don’t just take my word for it, scroll down for the before and after! You can actually get a free sample of this with every purchase of the Vita Liberata pHenomenal Tan until the end of September. I’ve got a code if you want to try the range – just use BECKY20 here.

vl3 vl5 vl6 vl7maybelline-1

I loved LFW this year, the emphasis on simplicity and the gorgeous materials that were used. I don’t live in London so it’s always a treat to go in and to go to events like this! I’m giving away 5 Vita Liberata Body Blurs! All you need to do is comment your favourite item of makeup below and follow Vita Liberata on Instagram (@vitaliberata) Love Becky x

WHAT I EAT IN A DAY – PERIOD EDITION!

I uploaded a period hacks video over on my channel and I never imagined the response to be so positive!! So many of you contacted me to share your tips too and also food to eat which included food to eat to get us through that time of the month! So I’ve been making a few changes and wanted to share a bit of a food diary to help you through what can feel like a lifetime. I get quite bad PMS (premenstrual syndrome), and three out of four of us will get this so I feel like we need all the help we can get!

krill1

I’ve been trying out something called Cleanmarine. Cleanmarine for women, is a krill oil based supplement and naturally rich in omegas. Omega 3 fatty acids in krill are meant to really help with PMS symptoms like anxiety and cravings, plus my mum is always telling me to take that because it’s so good! It also has rosemary oil in to help with your mood and it’s packed with vitamins that really help sustain you month round, and particularly at that time of the month!

These include Vitamin D3, otherwise known as the sunshine vitamin, which regulates the immune system and keeps everything in balance, Vitamins B1, B2 and B6 which support the nervous system and keep your energy levels in check, and  Krill oil, which brings all the goodness of omega 3 fatty acids and helps to lift your mood and aid concentration. It’s designed to really reduce PMS symptoms that women suffer with, like headaches and bloating, so I was really keen to put this to the test. I’ve noticed a really big difference in my skin, and also I’m sleeping so much better since incorporating this into my daily routine. I usually stuff my face with chocolate at that time of the month but now I’ve noticed  that I’m much more in control of the cravings.

krill-2

Obviously I only have my own experience to go by, but Cleanmarine have spent a lot of time working with women to put this to the test. After using it for 90 days, 69% of women said they had improved symptoms and a massive 81% said they had reduced breast tenderness.  a massive 69% reported less Bloating and 59% less cravings! You take two a day and it’s available in health stores, pharmacies or online here.

krill-3

As well as this, I’ve been stocking up on some key foods that I think have made a huge difference. First of all I’ve swapped junk food like crisps and chocolate for coconut and cocoa protein balls. They are so easy to make and are much better for you but they taste just like chocolate. I’ve filmed a video showing you how to make them if you click here.

krill-4

Also, pick foods that are high in iron and antioxidants like spinach, nuts and quinoa. One of my favourite salads is a strawberry, goat’s cheese, almond and spinach salad. It makes me feel so much less bloated than what I would usually have. Giving into cravings makes me feel so much worse! If you don’t like salads, you can get antioxidants from fruits like blueberries and raspberries.

Finally, don’t forget to drink lots of water. Fizzy drinks will just bloat you so avoid those. Keeping hydrated helps flush everything out and will also just make you feel like you’ve got a lot more energy!

Most importantly, open up about PMS and periods. I was so nervous about doing my video but I am so glad I did. I feel so much better now and know so much more because once I spoke out about it so many people have talked to me about things that help them. You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel and also I bet your friends and family will have little tips and tricks that you didn’t know about! What’s your biggest period worry or tip? Love Becky x

TALKBECKYTALK HOLIDAY MAKEUP MUST HAVES!

I wanted to share with you guys a few special photos from my holiday and to tell you a little about where I went, what I got up to and my holiday beauty must haves. I had always wanted to go to Ibiza so I booked a week with my mum and her friend. We actually had a week of rain (only this could happen to me!) so it meant lots of free time in my hotel room getting ready for our evening meals with the products I had packed.

 MAX1 MAX2 MAX3

I love getting ready when I’m on holiday but I do have to change my usual makeup routine with less makeup and stick to a few cult staples of mine. Besides cramming as many minis as I can in my case, I always turn to makeup palettes which allow me to change my makeup up each night without having to pack my whole collection. The first palette I took was my Max Factor Masterpiece nude palette. There are 3 in the range, my favourite is the ‘golden nudes’ because it’s filled with natural browns and the option to make things a little smokier! My mum loves the ‘rose nudes’ because it has more pink in it and my sister loves ‘cappucino nudes’ because it’s great for darker more dramatic eyes! The pigmentation on these are great, and you get 8 shades for £14.99. I wore this most nights as there’s a shade for pretty much whatever you’re wearing.

The second palette I took was the Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look In A Palette, perfect for a bit of radiance on holiday. I’d had my eye on this since it came out and a friend of mine bought me it as a surprise! First of all the colour payoff is incredible. I don’t own too much Charlotte Tilbury but the more I try the more I realise just how worth the money it is. This palette has a 2 blushers, a bronzer, highlighter and 3 eye primers and colour so it’s perfect for when you’re on the go.

I stayed in a yoga retreat just a few miles out of Ibiza town, and then headed to stay near the Old Castle for the last few days. The food was amazing, and my top tip if you visit would be to hire a car so you can find all the beautiful beaches and places to eat!

I can’t be without a mascara on holiday and this year I packed my Max Factor Masterpiece Max. Some of you guys will know I pretty much cleared the drugstores out of the Max Factor Masterpiece Transform (in brown) in my TalkBeckyTalk YouTube videos so it’s time for a new one for me! The wand on this is pretty cool. I love the end of it because you can pack loads of the product on your lashes and then the wand helps to separate and build up to 400% volume perfect for some serious lashes! I don’t get that horrible dropdown with Max Factor mascaras and it’s even more important for me when I’m in the heat!

I also packed the Clarins Eye Makeup Double Fix which claims to make your favourite mascaras and eyebrow products waterproof. I swam in this and it did run a little but I have to say it kept my mascara on all day without running and did last against the rain and sweat!

To complete the eyes, I packed my Max Factor Masterpiece Long Wear Eyeliner. This is a really great eyeliner if you want a product that can create a number of looks. I used the edge on holiday for a really subtle liner which stayed on all night (it’s meant to stay for 12 hours). If you use the thick side it creates a really high impact look. I’ve actually done a video showing you how to create that smoky “cat eyes” look using the Max Factor mascara, eyeshadow and liner I’ve just talked about if you click here. My sister wears this look in the evenings on holiday and it’s perfect for me when I’m at home going out. Go say hi under the video!

Finally, apart from a box of good lip balms, for me holidays are all about the hair! So I live off dry shampoo because it gets so tangled and greasy! My two favourites are the Pantene Pro V Instant Refresh and the COLab Sheer and Invisible. I love them because they are two of the few dry shampoos that actually make your hair look good again but don’t feel really gritty and dusty which puts a lot of people off using them. I can’t decide which I prefer but they are both really affordable and I get through so much that I always take two cans away with me!

I’m actually giving away three of the Max Factor eyeshadow palettes so you have something for your holidays too! Comment below telling me which one is your favourite and why – cappuccino nudes, pink nudes or golden nudes.

Here’s to some sunshine, even in the rain, it felt so wonderful and relaxing to be away! On the last night we sat and watched the sun go down, it was so magical.
